![]() ![]() ![]() With lines that are mainly filled with puns and jokes, Mercutio is a quick-tempered round character, whose death indisputably obscures Romeo’s and Juliet’s fates. Mercutio, another essential character in the play, is one of Romeo’s closest friends and the Prince’s kinsman, who is full of wit, cleverness, and cunningness. He is not the main character and nor is he someone who goes against the protagonist, making him just a character in the play who affects the other characters, unintentionally for the worst. Instead he is a static character, not a protagonist or an antagonist, who goes through no change at all. ![]() Even though Friar Lawrence is a round character, based on his involvement with Romeo and Juliet and in the play, he is not a dynamic character. He is the only religious figure in the play, the one who marries Romeo and Juliet, and who schemes the reunion of the couple. In the play, Friar Lawrence is an amiable clergyman, who gives reputable advice to the protagonists of the play. Instead I decided to write about Friar Lawrence and Mercutio. Originally I wanted to write about Romeo, Juliet, and Tybalt, but somebody who I will not name, *cough*Lulu*cough*, decided to write about them before I had the chance. I chose to write about the famously known play Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, that we read in freshman year. ![]()
